Dallas Children’s Theater is inviting friends, fans and those who are just curious to a FREE community birthday party with loads of fun and family-friendly activities after the 1:30 pm show of DR. SEUSS’S THE CAT IN THE HAT on Saturday, September 21 from 3:00pm – 5:00 pm in celebration of the theater’s 30th birthday.
Festivities include two hours of showstopping entertainment including music and stories by Willy Welch “Mr. Willy”, a musical puppetry review by Becky Burks Keenan, clowning with Slappy & Monday, Hula dancing, a special performance by Lone Star Circus plus a vintage gameroom full of fun and prizes. Rumor has it you might also win the prize for being the best hula hooper in the bunch, too!
Thanks to support from area theaters and other organizations, there will also be a host of great raffle prizes such as tickets to a Rangers game, Dallas Arboretum, Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Dallas Theater Center, AT&T Performing Arts Center, and many more. DCT is even providing some delicious treats thanks to area food trucks such as Ruthie’s Rolling Cafe, Kona Ice and Sprinkles mini cupcakes.
Guests will want to catch a glimpse of the winning hat designs from DCT’s Hats Off to 30th anniversary design contest modeled by some of the DCT Academy students. Shall we say, simply awesome!
Founder and Executive Artistic Director Robyn Flatt says DR. SEUSS’S THE CAT IN THE HAT “…is the perfect way to kick-off our very special birthday season.”
Guests for the Birthday Party only will enter the EDUCATION entrance at 3:00 pm sharp. DCT wants guests to know ahead of time that because of an earlier event in the building, we will not be able to open the doors any sooner than 3:00 pm and asks people to please plan accordingly. Those who have purchased tickets to the 1:30 pm show will proceed from autographs directly into the party.
Come celebrate with us!
